A dynamic and resilient organisation, Community Arts Network WA, (CAN WA) has been inspiring and mobilising communities to creatively express their unique stories through the arts for over thirty years. In producing world class, landmark artistic outcomes and having genuine and far reaching positive impact on communities, CAN WA stands as a national success story: a model for community arts organisations nationwide.
Identifying that their reality as a confident, nationally significant organisation was not reflected by their existing brand, CAN WA required a major shift in their identity. Taking the bold step of changing their name after 30 years, they became CAN, acknowledging their national significance and taking ownership of a empowering and positive word.
A bold, modern and flexible visual system was created to speak to their varied audience, and the organisation’s vast archive of vibrant, human centred photography was given centre stage. From the well-meaning, provincial “arty” arts organisation emerged a new vision: that of a strong, professional leader in the world of community arts and social change.
Engaging, diverse and highly functional were the key outcomes that would gauge the level of success for the website. We crafted a emotive user experience, leveraging the vibrant imagery combined with functional content and clear calls to action throughout.
Driving attendance to programs and events whilst also increasing memberships and donations were the objectives for the organisation. Tools were created to allow all for this functionality to be easily managed by the internal team.
