The Australian Web Awards is one of our industry’s most prestigious events; an annual, national award in which work is independently judged by a slew industry professionals (this year, 26 of them).
It’s a difficult task to even become a finalist in the Awards, because every little piece matters. It’s not about creating a pretty website. The judges review all aspects of a website’s performance from content and user interface design, to development, accessibility and speed. There’s nowhere to hide.
We were proud enough to have four of our projects named as national finalists. But what an overwhelming pleasure it was to find out we’d won the national award in the Small Business category for our work with The Event Mill. Then, as if things couldn’t get better, the site was also bestowed with the Best In Show McFarlane Prize. Honestly, we’re still giddy about the whole thing. The judges commented:
“A fabulous experience, and clearly from the start a lot of the delivery has taken the user into consideration. A delight to engage with, objectives are clearly well laid out and transparent. A neat balance of internal content vs. customer need has been addressed. Minimal interactions present a clean flow through the site, with a solid emphasis on balance and hierarchy.”
The Juicebox approach has always been to consider all relevant users of what we make, from various types of customers through to the administrators, so it was fantastic to be recognised for it.
We’d love to offer a huge congratulations to all the winners and finalists in the awards, who keep the quality of our industry moving forward. See you next year!
